About Us
The Dance Place was founded in 1995 under the direction of Joanne DePue, BFA, University of the Arts and Susan Moore, BA, Holy Family University and M.Ed, Temple University.
Joanne DePue, artistic director (1995--until her passing in 2018), was a graduate of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance performance and education. Upon graduation, she was the recipient of the Ursela Melita Heisman award for outstanding achievement in ballet. She taught dance for 36 years.
Susan Moore, studio owner/manager, is a graduate of Holy Family University (BA) and Temple University earning a Master's Degree in English Education. In addition to managing the studio, Miss Sue taught English as a Second Language at the high school level from 1979-2010.
TDP Today
The Dance Place continues under the ownership of Jacqueline DePue, Jul DePue Gagliano, and Susan Moore. Miss Jacqueline and Miss Jul have been dancing almost their entire lives having grown up here at TDP. Both were an integral part of TDP's competition teams for many years, winning top awards at many of the area's competitions.
Miss Jacqueline graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Elementary Education and currently works in the North Penn School District. Miss Jul graduated from Temple University with a degree in nursing and has worked at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and now Einstein Medical Center Montgomery.
Both Miss Jacqueline and Miss Jul bring amazing talent and skill to our TDP dancers as well as to our competition teams. Both are frequent recipients of top choreography awards at competition. They are proud to honor and continue Miss Joanne's legacy of striving for excellence in dance in a fun, family environment.
